Summary
Modified GRF 1-29 (the GRF(1-29)NH2 fragment, related to sermorelin/CJC-1295) is a synthetic growth-hormone-releasing hormone analog that activates IGF-1 signaling and growth-hormone secretion [1,3]. Pharmacologic work shows that even after subcutaneous delivery and binding to plasma proteins, the peptide is released sufficiently to produce a detectable rise in circulating growth hormone in rats [3], and it is one of several growth-hormone secretagogues discussed for managing body composition in hypogonadal males [4]. Much of the available human-relevant literature addresses anti-doping detection of GHRH analogs rather than therapeutic efficacy [2]. A 2026 review of therapeutic peptides notes that, although the mechanistic rationale for these GHRH-class agents is promising, there is currently a lack of clinical trials [1]. On the provided evidence the human therapeutic case is mechanistically plausible but not yet supported by interventional efficacy data.
