Summary

Prostatilen is a polypeptide bioregulator preparation derived from the prostate gland, studied primarily in Russia and Eastern Europe as a therapy for prostatic diseases [4]. In small clinical studies it reduced symptoms of infravesical obstruction and residual urine volume in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostatic adenoma, and an early trial reported attenuation of pain and dysuria symptoms with improved uroflowmetry, copulative function, and spermatogenesis, plus antibacterial and immunomodulatory effects [1,3,4]. A multicenter Phase III randomized controlled trial in men with impaired sperm parameters found that a zinc-arginyl-glycinate-enhanced formulation (Prostatilen AC) significantly improved sperm motility and morphology versus standard Prostatilen [2]. Overall the evidence is limited: studies are mostly small, dated, and published in Russian, and the substance has no FDA record, so conclusions should be treated as preliminary outside its regional regulatory context.
