Summary

Thymalin is a thymic peptide preparation studied as an immunomodulator and geroprotector, reported in older clinical observations to improve somatic state and reduce mortality among treated elderly patients, with the largest effect when combined with Epithalamin [2]. Mechanistic and in-vitro work indicates it stimulates differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells toward mature CD28+ T lymphocytes [1] and that its active KE and EW dipeptides reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α) in human mononuclear cells, suggesting an immunomodulatory mechanism relevant to inflammatory conditions such as COVID-19 [3]. Experimental animal work also points to enhanced reparative osteogenesis when injected around bone defects [4]. Aside from the older geroprotective report, the cited evidence is largely preclinical/in-vitro and lacks modern controlled human trials, so therapeutic benefit remains weakly substantiated.
